These competency requirements apply in Ontario and all other Canadian jurisdictions in which forestry is a regulated profession, except Quebec. This program will help Internationally Trained Foresters (ITF) and domestically trained foresters from non-accredited post-secondary institutions acquire the skills they need to practice professional forestry in Canada. Courses Standard 1 Tree and Stand Dynamics: Trees and stands are an important part of the landscape. Knowledge of tree and stand establishment forms the basis of how ecosystems function. Standard 2 Forest to Landscape, Structure, and Function Canada’s forested ecosystems are diverse and complex. Knowledge of composition, structure and function is essential to describe current, and predict future conditions. Standard 5 Leadership Skills Professional foresters must possess critical reasoning skills to analyze and communicate complex ideas clearly and to provide advice to a range of clients. Standard 7 Professionalism and Ethics Professional foresters have integrity, are competent, independent and accountable for their actions and decisions.
